About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BC/BE OBGYN physician to join their well-established and growing women’s health team as a system-wide Laborist. This physician will fulfill an annual requirement of 88 shifts (24 hours) per year and play a key role in providing full-spectrum Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Urogynecology health care services. The role involves joining a dynamic team of 1 experienced Physician, 2 CNMs, and 2 APCs in a collaborative working environment. Responsibilities include providing inpatient call coverage with 24-hour shifts and utilizing the DaVinci Xi robot. The position also encourages involvement in medical education and research.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of an Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants not board certified must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless waived.
  • Demonstrated competence and adequate volumes of experience to include 50 deliveries (including 5 cesarean sections) and 25 gynecological surgical procedures in the last 12 months (if applicable to privileges requested).
  • For applicants not applying directly out of residency, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) showing clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • For applicants who have just completed residency, provide their residency procedure log and a list of completed rotations, as applicable.

  • Experience in Urogynecology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient call coverage with 24-hour shifts.
  • Perform history and physical examinations.
  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose, consult, and provide pre-, intra-, and postoperative care for female patients presenting with injuries and disorders of the female reproductive system and the genitourinary system.
  • Provide nonsurgical treatment for disorders and injuries of the mammary glands.
  • Collaborate with a team of physicians, CNMs, and APCs.
  • Utilize the DaVinci Xi robot.
  • Participate in medical education and research.
