This position involves covering orthopedic evening/night call from 4 PM to 7 AM at a Level 1 trauma center. The role is based in Duluth, MN, and offers flexible scheduling options. The physician will be supported by fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeons and subspecialty-trained orthopedic surgeons. An APP group provides 24/7 call support, handling in-house and outside patient calls. This role specifically excludes Spine calls (covered by neurosurgery), office/clinic responsibilities, hospital rounding, and responding to hospital codes. The physician is expected to see orthopedic admissions and high-energy trauma patients as per the discretion of the in-house general surgery trauma team. Hip fractures are admitted by the hospitalist team. The anticipated case volume is 0-2 cases per shift. St. Mary’s Medical Center is a 330-bed tertiary care hospital and a Level I Trauma Center with a 24-bed emergency department and helicopter support. The hospital has been recognized among America's Top 100 Hospitals and Fracture Care Programs. The facility utilizes a dedicated EMR/EPIC system and serves an approximate 500,000 population. It is certified as HIMSS EMRAM Level 7 for both inpatient and ambulatory facilities.
