About The Position

Sanford Clinic is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible neurologist to join a collaborative practice of 2 physicians and 12 nurse practitioners. There is a Stroke Program Directorship opportunity available. The position involves seeing approximately 10 patients per day and working with a Primary Plus Stroke Center Certification. The practice has a broad referral base spanning Central and Western ND, North Central SD, and Eastern MT. The role includes an academic appointment at UND School of Medicine and Health Services, with the opportunity to educate medical students and family medicine residents.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a Neurology residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
  • Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Experience can be demonstrated by providing residency logs and a list of completed rotations for recent graduates, or a quality profile from hospital(s) where privileges are held showing clinical activity for the last 12 months (including number of procedures, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications) for applicants not applying directly out of residency. The applicant must demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services with at least 50 patients in the last 12 months.
  • If a quality profile is not available, documentation of clinic activity for the last 12 months is required, demonstrating active involvement in the care of 50 patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months.
  • More education and experience may be required for more advanced practice.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination.
  • Admit patients (if applicable to the setting).
  • Provide consultative services.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and provide nonsurgical care to patients of all ages presenting with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of the neurologic system.
