About The Position

Collaborates with Vice-President of Physician Services in the development and implementation of the mission and strategic vision of designated practices. Recommends, develops, and implements improvements for the practices.  Provides leadership in developing, planning, implementing, and communicating the practices’ business plans to the providers and practice staff. Functions as a liaison between the employed providers, practice staff, physician billing office, Johnson Memorial Health (JMH) Accounting and Administration departments.  Ensures the practices are appropriately documenting and capturing generated revenue. Assures compliance with governing policies and procedures related to CPT/HCPCS coding and billing rules and regulations as well as HIPAA Confidentiality and Security Compliance. Establishes, oversees, and ensures adherence to practice operating policies and procedures. Assures staff compliance with JMH Physician Health Network and JMH policies and procedures. Prepares and audits all required documentation for CME travel and expenses requests and payment authorizations for practice providers. Responsible for non-provider staff retention and development. Maintains personnel requirements including job descriptions, performance appraisals, disciplinary action, education, and proficiency testing for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Plans educational programs for department personnel. Ensures consistent application of all departmental and JMH policies. Provides appropriate staffing to perform departmental functions to meet the expectations of departmental customers. Resolves any administrative and operational problems and keeps lines of communication open with staff to ensure high employee morale and a professional atmosphere. Enhances operational effectiveness, emphasizing cost containment without jeopardizing important innovation or quality of care. Ensures practice compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies. Continually monitors operations, programs, physical properties, and initiates appropriate changes as necessary with changing regulations.  Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional development to keep current in the latest health care trends and developments. Works to assure adherence to cash handling internal controls for daily cash collections, working collaboratively with billing or vendors to keep outstanding A/R at or below established practice target levels. Controls expenses of the designated clinic to maintain positive contribution to practice net revenues. Continuously compares actual expenses to budget. Performs other related duties as assigned. Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions and JMH’s Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Policy.

Requirements

  • Requires 1) bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or related field with at least five (5) years of managerial experience in a physician practice setting; or 2) associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field with at least seven (7) years of managerial experience in a physician practice setting; or 3) high school diploma or equivalent and at least nine (9) years of managerial experience in a physician practice setting.
  • Work experience must include billing processes, medical terminology, CPT-coding, and filing insurance claims.
  • Current unrestricted Indiana driver’s license required.
  • Must have a reliable personal automobile and sufficient auto insurance for use when traveling to various practice locations.
