About The Position

HIA Health is seeking a physician to join our medical team to support both Hospice patients and our primary and palliative home-based care patients. This position will collaborate with the Medical Director, physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and the inter-disciplinary team in providing world-class hospice, palliative, and home-based primary medical care to patients in accordance with federal regulations and the strategic direction set by the board of directors. Some travel required within service area. This position can be located in Bismarck or Minot, ND and will provide clinical expertise for our Hospice Program, our Palliative Program, our Primary Care at Home Program, as well as rotational support in our brand-new state-of-the-art and first ever in North Dakota, Hospice Inpatient Unit - Heather's House (in Fargo).

Requirements

MD or D.O. licensure in Minnesota and North Dakota (or willing to obtain dual licensure upon employment offer)
DEA Licensure in MN and ND
Current state driver’s license and active auto insurance

Nice To Haves

Hospice and Palliative Care Certification or Fellowship, highly preferred
Experience in care of terminally ill patients
Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork and collaboration
Administrative health care experience desirable
Board certified FP or IM desirable

Responsibilities

Partners with the medical director in providing medical expertise for: Standards of medical care for hospice patients, Eligibility and ineligibility of referred patients, Disease management and pain and symptom management of hospice patients, Direct medical care to hospice patients, Physician-to-physician relationships and leadership, Clinical and public education regarding hospice and palliative care
Ensure the company meets regulatory requirements.
Participate in quality improvement (QI) programs that address identified gaps in care, with measurable improvements in patient outcomes.
Participate in quality initiatives to continually create an atmosphere of clinical excellence.
Will engage in an interdisciplinary team meeting/review of all patients that have had adverse outcomes, inclusive of deaths and patients with emergency department visits and inpatient admissions.
Ensure that patient care and safety are a consistent company priority.
May assist with onboarding new providers through topic discussions, case studies, and chart reviews.
Conduct interdisciplinary meetings and offer educational sessions, including Q&A opportunities, with a focus on patient-centered care.
Seek ways to improve the organization’s clinical services, ensuring all patient records, treatment plans, and medication reviews are completed accurately and within the required timeframes.
