SMG is recruiting a General Surgeon to support strategic growth in Elk Grove, CA. This role is designed around a bread‑and‑butter general surgery practice with light call, no trauma or ER responsibilities, and a predictable work model emphasizing work‑life balance. The position's anticipated start date is December 2027 and represents the expansion of a growing surgical program.

Anticipated Schedule & Workflow
Operating / Clinic Model:
3 days operating
2 days clinic
OR Access:
Block time model
Position start date: December 2027
SMCS access for larger or complex cases prior to and after ASC opening

Support:
Surgical First Assist (SFA) support in the OR

Call & Inpatient Coverage
Call:
Approximately 5 days per month
No ER call
Inpatient Coverage:
Weekends only
SMCS location
No weekday inpatient requirement unless by clinician preference

ICU / Trauma:
None

Requirements

• Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in General Surgery
• Comfortable with independent bread-and-butter general surgery
• Interested in program growth and long-term practice development
• Values a balanced schedule with minimal call burden

Responsibilities

• Perform hernias, gallbladder procedures, colectomies, and small bowel cases.
• Focus on high-quality, elective general surgery with sustainable volumes.
• Operate 3 days a week and have clinic 2 days a week.
• Provide call coverage approximately 5 days per month, with no ER call.
• Cover inpatient duties on weekends only.
• Participate in program growth and long-term practice development.
