About The Position

This Physician (Family Practice) position is located at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida, within the 6th Medical Group. It is a Direct Hire Authority solicitation. Federal civilian healthcare providers are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act, so medical malpractice liability insurance is not required. Salary negotiation may be available for candidates new to Federal service, and non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. The 6th Medical Group's mission is "Mission Focused – To Prevent, Heal, and Deploy!" They provide comprehensive healthcare to over 265,000 eligible beneficiaries, managing a $46.2 million budget and overseeing the medical readiness of 24,100 Total Force service members across eight facilities.

Requirements

  • US Citizen
  • Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent degree from a school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • For foreign medical schools: education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States, demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
  • Possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (e.g., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited hospital or institution).
  • Successfully completed the required accredited residency training in Family Practice and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient care.
  • Provide health assessments to patients.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and testing procedures.
  • Formulate treatment and management regimens based on evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
  • Provide clinical and administrative leadership to the Patient Centered Medical Home team.
  • Advise staff on the care of patients with medical problems.
  • Document clinical encounters and patient instructions into medical record.
