About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Family Medicine physician for a fast-growing practice in Alexandria, MN. This practice serves a primary care service area of 50,000 and a specialty care service area of 100,000. Sanford Health Alexandria currently has 35 providers across over 15 specialties. The Broadway Clinic in Alexandria has 18 physicians and 15 advanced practice providers. Family Medicine call is 1:4 and shared with other Sanford physicians. The role is in an Acute Care Clinic Setting with a 3-day clinic work week and Pediatric Call Coverage. Alomere Health in Alexandria provides 24/7 hospital coverage.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a Family Medicine residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), as applicable.
  • Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Demonstrate active involvement in the clinical aspects of Family Medicine by providing a case log that includes 25 vaginal deliveries, 50 adult medical patients, and 10 inpatient care of children under the age of 18 (excluding normal newborn), as applicable to privileges being requested, in the last 12 months.
  • For applicants not applying directly out of residency: provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • For applicants who have just completed residency: provide their residency procedure log and a list of completed rotations, as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination.
  • Admit patients (if applicable to the setting).
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with a wide variety of illness, diseases, injuries, mental health conditions and functional disorders of circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, metabolic, musculoskeletal, hematopoietic, gastroenteric, integumentary, nervous, female reproductive, and genitourinary systems.
  • Provide pre-operative care of surgical patients.
  • Provide post-operative medical care of surgical patients.
  • Address return to work issues.
