About The Position

Sanford Clinic Jackson is seeking Board Eligible/Board Certified Family Medicine physicians to join their current medical staff. This is a broad scope family medicine practice providing care in clinic, hospital, and emergency department settings. The clinical team consists of physicians and advanced practice providers. There is shared nursing home responsibility on a monthly basis. The average patients per day in clinic is 15-18, with an average inpatient census of 0-2. The call schedule is 1:4 weekend call with varied weekday call. The work week is 4 days, and the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used is Epic.

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of a Family Medicine residency program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), as applicable.
  • Applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their residency training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their residency training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
  • Demonstrate active involvement in the clinical aspects of Family Medicine by providing a case log that includes 25 vaginal deliveries, 50 adult medical patients, and 10 inpatient care of children under the age of 18 (excluding normal newborn), as applicable to privileges being requested, in the last 12 months.
  • If not applying directly out of residency, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
  • If just completed residency, provide residency procedure log and a list of completed rotations, as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination
  • Admit patients (if applicable to the setting)
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with a wide variety of illness, diseases, injuries, mental health conditions and functional disorders of circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, metabolic, musculoskeletal, hematopoietic, gastroenteric, integumentary, nervous, female reproductive, and genitourinary systems.
  • Provide pre-operative care of surgical patients
  • Provide post-operative medical care of surgical patients
  • Address return to work issues
  • Shared nursing home responsibility on a monthly basis
