About The Position

Crystal Run Healthcare, part of the Optum family, is seeking a full-time Endocrinologist for its practice in Middletown, NY. This role is within Optum, a value-based care delivery network that is part of United Health Group. The position offers the opportunity to work with a large care delivery organization, focusing on physician-led, local care. The Endocrinology, Diabetes, & Metabolism Department is a well-established practice serving patients in Orange County, Hudson Valley, and the lower Catskills, equipped with the necessary team, equipment, and support for physicians. The role emphasizes a team-based care environment, patient education, and opportunities for growth within a collegial multispecialty group with a large referral base. Direct support staff, including a Nutritionist & Certified Diabetes Educator, are available. Physicians will have autonomy and independence, with a strong affiliation with local tertiary care hospitals for comprehensive endocrine care services. The schedule is Monday-Friday during normal business hours, promoting work-life balance, with manageable on-call rotations. The patient census is adult-focused (ages 18+). New graduates are welcome.

Requirements

  • Completion of (or in process of completing) accredited relevant fellowship training program(s)
  • BC in Endocrinology and any additional relevant Endocrine sub-specialties (if relevant)
  • Unrestricted New York State Medical License (or ability to obtain)
  • Current New York State DEA certificate (or ability to obtain)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency / comfort with thyroid biopsies highly preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Investigate, diagnose, and treat the full range of endocrine system disorders, including diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and osteoporosis.
  • Provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art diabetes care using a team-based approach with endocrinologists, nurse practitioners, diabetes educators, and nutritionists.
  • Perform on-site screening for osteoporosis.
  • Provide comprehensive services for the diagnosis and treatment of all thyroid disorders, including Hypothyroidism, Hyperthyroidism, Thyroid nodules, and Thyroid cancer.
  • Conduct on-site thyroid laboratory testing, thyroid function testing, thyroid imaging with ultrasonography, and thyroid biopsies.
  • Offer comprehensive medical and procedural endocrine care within a team of 14 highly skilled, fellowship-trained Endocrinologists and Advanced Practice Clinicians.
  • Consult with patients about their endocrine health, providing the latest advancements in care.
  • Start days in state-of-the-art, multi-specialty outpatient offices and finish days rounding at the local hospital.
  • Refer patients to advanced specialists as needed.
  • Examine and diagnose patients, oversee all treatment prior to and post-surgery, and identify associated risks.
  • Order tests and interpret results to determine the best treatment options.
  • Maintain appropriate medical records and results.
