About The Position

This position involves providing emergency medicine care in Duluth, MN. The Duluth ED has annual volumes of 42K patients/year in a brand new state-of-the-art 40 bed ED. It serves a large catchment area with a full complement of collaborative specialists and subspecialists. The role offers 8 and 9 hour shifts with double & triple physician coverage and additional APP support 7 days/week. Physicians admit to St. Mary’s Medical Center, a 330-bed hospital and Level I Adult and Level II Peds Trauma Center. The role includes providing a full spectrum of emergency medicine care, including pediatrics. There is an opportunity to teach residents and medical students if interested. The work environment is described as supportive and fun, with kind and collaborative consultants and strong nurses with excellent retention. Excellent behavioral health resources are available, including a psychiatry consult service in the ED, social work, case management, safe rooms, behavioral health techs and nurses. The position also involves working in regional sites (Aurora, Virginia, Moose Lake, Sandstone, Deer River, and Superior WI) with varying patient volumes and trauma levels. Scheduling is flexible, allowing physicians to work in Duluth and/or rurally. Telemedicine support is available for stroke, psychiatry, NICU, hospice, and cardiology.
