About The Position

The West Virginia University School of Medicine – Eastern Division Department of Surgery seeks a Dermatology physician (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Martinsburg, WV. The Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia is a little more than an hour from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD, close to 3 international airports. A rural atmosphere and a lower cost of living mixed with the easy accessibility to the Washington DC / Baltimore areas make the Eastern Panhandle an ideal place in which to live. While Berkeley County is among the fastest growing counties in the state, there is little congestion and traffic. In recent years, a steady influx of urban professionals from nearby Washington, DC and Baltimore, Maryland have contributed to the growth of local telecommuting and high-tech industries. The West Virginia University Health System is West Virginia’s largest health system and the state’s largest employer. The System has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others. The Health System operates West Virginia’s first and only multi-organ transplant center, and opened a new, 150-bed Children’s Hospital in September 2022. Today, the WVU Health System has more than 3,400 licensed beds, 4,600 providers, and nearly 35,000 employees. Anchored by an 880-bed academic medical center in Morgantown, the Health System includes 25 member hospitals that collectively serve a multi-state region. University Health Associates (UHA) is a private, not-for-profit corporation composed of clinical faculty members of the WVU School of Medicine and School of Dentistry, and also advanced practice providers and other allied health providers. The organization is West Virginia’s largest multi-specialty physician practice. UHA operates and staffs clinics and hospitals throughout West Virginia and surrounding states.
