About The Position
This is a Locum Tenens position for a Pediatric Critical Care Physician in Columbia, SC. The role involves providing 24-hour on-campus call coverage on weekends, from Saturday 7 AM to Monday 7 AM. The physician will round with pediatric/ED residents and supervise overnight call with one resident. Responsibilities include managing a variety of critical medical conditions in pediatric patients, providing pre- and post-operative care, and treating traumatic injuries. The patient census is approximately 11. Specialty backup is available from various departments including Radiology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, and Neurology.
Requirements
- Active SC License
- Board Certified in Critical Care
- DEA required
- PALS, ACLS, BLS certifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Must be out of training and practicing for at least 2 years
- Clean background ONLY
Responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour on-campus call coverage on weekends (Sat 7a – Mon 7a)
- Round with 2-3 pediatric/ED residents and supervise overnight call with 1 resident
- Manage medical conditions including cardiac/respiratory arrest, sepsis, renal failure, and poisoning
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients
- Treat traumatic injuries such as blunt force/penetrating injuries, fractures, and dislocations
- Perform procedures including Vent Management, Chest Tube Insertion, Central & Arterial Lines, Transfusions, ICP Evaluation, Hemodialysis, Diagnostic Taps, and Ultrasound POC.
