About The Position

Deaconess Health System is seeking a highly motivated Outpatient Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our outpatient behavioral health team in Evansville, Indiana to serve patients in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting with strong clinical and administrative support. This position focuses on providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing treatment for children and adolescents in an outpatient setting. The psychiatrist will work closely with families, schools, and community resources to ensure continuity of care and support for young patients. Our outpatient programs are comprehensive and include: Full-time and part-time psychiatrists, Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs), Individual outpatient services provided by qualified psychologists and therapists, Specialized group therapy programs, Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Adult Mental Health Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program (CD-IOP). Deaconess Cross Pointe (DCP) offers a full continuum of behavioral health services, including outpatient programs and a fully accredited 60-bed inpatient facility, ensuring comprehensive care at all levels.

Requirements

  • Board certification or eligibility in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (MD or DO).
  • Eligible for or currently holding an active medical license in the states of Indiana and Kentucky.
  • Experience in outpatient psychiatry.
  • Familiarity with intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other members of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Passion for working with children, adolescents, and families.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnose mental health conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans for children and adolescents.
  • Provide medication management and ongoing therapeutic support for patients with a wide range of psychiatric conditions.
  • Collaborate with PMHNPs, nurses, psychologists, therapists, and families as part of a treatment team.
  • Provide supervision of PMHNPs, as needed.
  • Offer co-signatures for therapists to support clinical documentation.
  • Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Adhere to ethical, legal, and regulatory standards for psychiatric care.
  • Share on-call duties with all full-time psychiatrists and inpatient PMHNPs.
  • Triage intake calls, provide dispositions, and issue admission orders during on-call shifts.
  • Round on inpatients during weekend on-call shifts.
