About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center is seeking a BC/BE Cardiologist. Cardiology Core Privileges include the privileges to perform history and physical examination, admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide treatment or consultative services for adult patients presenting with diseases of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels.

Requirements

M.D. or D.O. degree.
Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Internal Medicine residency program and completion of a fellowship in Cardiology accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency.
Certification by the appropriate specialty /subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
If not board certified at the time of application, must have completed fellowship training within the last five years and achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
Demonstrate active involvement of 100 cardiology procedures.
If a level 2 or 3 Cardiologist (Invasive or Interventional Cardiologist), must include 50 cardiac catheterizations as primary operator during the past two years with satisfactory quality data (if applicable to practice).

Nice To Haves

An applicant who has just completed a fellowship shall provide his/her residency or fellowship log.
An applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s clinical activity for the past 24 months is required.
Consideration may be given to training at residency or fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than ACGME, AOA, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada by the Credentials Committee; Physician Executive or Medical Affairs Committee; and the Board of Directors or the Board of Governors.
Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement.
