About The Position

Nicklaus Children's Health System and Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS) are recruiting a BC/BE fellowship-trained pediatric nephrologist. The role involves providing exceptional clinical care, including inpatient and outpatient services for AKI, CKD, and ESKD, as well as acute and chronic renal replacement therapy. The ideal candidate will be passionate about advocacy and improving care for children, contributing to the health system's mission where every child matters most. This position is crucial for meeting the growing demand for pediatric nephrology services throughout South Florida. The division collaborates with other specialized programs such as pediatric urology, rheumatology, and neurology, and participates in multidisciplinary clinics. The Division of Nephrology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is equipped with advanced technology, including the Carpediem™ Cardio Renal Pediatric Dialysis Emergency Machine for newborns with acute kidney injury. The division currently comprises 4 full-time pediatric nephrologists and 1 full-time nurse practitioner, with plans for expansion. In 2025, the division managed 7,500 patient encounters, provided 2,000 chronic outpatient treatments, and 500 inpatient treatments. Employed staff have an academic affiliation with Florida International University (FIU) Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, holding faculty appointments. Nicklaus Children’s Hospital also trains pediatric residents and subspecialty fellows. Nicklaus Children’s Health System has a 75-year history of providing pediatric care and is South Florida's leading nonprofit specialty hospital for children. The system includes a network of hospitals and over 35 outpatient locations, offering lifesaving care across multiple counties. The 474-bed system is recognized for excellence in pediatric medicine, with many programs consistently ranked nationally. It also includes a nonprofit physician practice with over 40 specialties and an ambulatory surgery center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional clinical care, including inpatient and outpatient care across all aspects of nephrology including AKI, CKD and ESKD.
  • Manage inpatient acute and outpatient chronic renal replacement therapy.
  • Contribute to the expansion of pediatric nephrology services throughout South Florida.
  • Collaborate with other outstanding programs including pediatric urology, pediatric rheumatology and neurology.
  • Participate in highly specialized inpatient and outpatient multidisciplinary clinics.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluation of renal functions, including kidney biopsies.
  • Deliver on Nicklaus Children’s promise of a care environment where every child matters most.
