About The Position

The Physician Associate (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) serves as a primary healthcare provider within the University of Portland Health & Counseling Center (HCC), delivering comprehensive, evidence-based care that supports student health, wellness, and overall student success outcomes. This position provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for acute and chronic health conditions, while emphasizing preventive care, health education, and wellness promotion for a diverse student population. Working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, the PA/NP partners with HCC colleagues, campus departments, and community healthcare resources to ensure coordinated, compassionate, and student-centered care. The role includes clinical consultation and triage, management of electronic health records, development and implementation of clinical protocols, and participation in quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming healthcare environment, delivering exceptional clinical care, and contributing to the ongoing success and continuous improvement of the Health & Counseling Center’s services and operations. This position reports to the Director of the Health & Counseling Center. As the HCC operates on an academic year when students are on campus, this position works a 10-month assignment period from August through May and receives the summer months of June and July off. The University total compensation package is offered for all 12 months. The posted starting salary is based off the 10-month assignment period which is considered a .83 FTE . The University is able to commensurate the salary based off measurable years of relevant experience and licensure.

Requirements

Physician Associate or Nurse Practitioner qualification.
Licensed to practice as a Physician Associate or Nurse Practitioner.
Experience in delivering comprehensive, evidence-based care.
Experience in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for acute and chronic health conditions.
Experience in preventive care, health education, and wellness promotion.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Proficiency in managing electronic health records.
