About The Position

The Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at UMass Memorial Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their growing team. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative group of ophthalmologists and clinical staff dedicated to delivering exceptional patient-centered eye care across a broad spectrum of ophthalmic conditions. The APP will play an integral role in supporting outpatient clinical operations, enhancing patient access, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality ophthalmic care in a fast-paced academic healthcare environment. Key Highlights include joining a growing ophthalmology practice within Central Massachusetts' largest health system, working alongside experienced ophthalmologists, optometrists, and dedicated clinical staff, with the opportunity to develop specialized ophthalmology expertise and procedural skills. The role utilizes advanced technology and an integrated Epic EMR platform, supported by robust operational and clinical support infrastructure. There is also an opportunity to participate in quality improvement, research, and educational initiatives within a patient-centered culture focused on delivering exceptional eye care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Massachusetts Medical License with national certification (NCCPA), DEA and CSR

Nice To Haves

  • Prior ophthalmology experience preferred but not required (to be determined by department)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient evaluations and obtain comprehensive medical histories
  • Perform ophthalmic examinations and assessments under established protocols
  • Perform intravenous fluorescein angiography (IVFA), including venipuncture, and contrast dye administration
  • Assist with medication refills and patient triage
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing as appropriate
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
