About The Position

SAC Health is seeking an Internal Medicine Physician Assistant to provide adult primary care, diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses. Under physician supervision, the PA will assist with all aspects of patient care, including consultations, diagnosis, and treatment plan development. This role focuses on direct patient care for the uninsured, underinsured, and homeless population. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, at the Barstow Clinic in Barstow, CA.

Requirements

• Masters of Physician Assistant Sciences, which includes both didactic and clinical rotations (including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Women's Health)
• Valid Physician Assistant License in California.
• Valid DEA License in California.
• 1+ years prior experience in Internal Medicine is required.
• 3+ years prior experience in outpatient Primary Care: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics or Women's Health.
• Calculator and personal computer with Excel and EHR knowledge.
• Ability use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
• Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction.
• Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
• Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clinical care to adults.
• Monitor developmental health and administer preventive care, including vaccinations.
• Perform therapeutic procedures by ordering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
• Examine patients, obtain medical histories, and perform tests and procedures to diagnose and treat illnesses, medical conditions, and injuries; interpreting test results.
• Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans and offer guidance on health, safety, nutrition, and fitness needs.
• Provide continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
• Educate patients and families on managing illnesses and injuries, promoting healthy lifestyle choices.
• Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records using an Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Maintain detailed records of assessment, treatment plans, and progress.
• Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
