Physician Assistant
About The Position
OrthoVirginia is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their growing Ortho On-Call Urgent Care team. This position will be part of an exceptional team of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and sports medicine physicians, ensuring the delivery of quality care in a patient-focused setting. Ortho On-Call clinics specialize in treating acute orthopedic-related injuries and conditions, supported by OrthoVirginia's board-certified physicians and full-service therapies. The successful candidate will be a licensed provider capable of treating all age ranges and will work in a collaborative, team-oriented, and caring environment.
Requirements
- Board Certified/Eligible
- Prefer 2+ years of orthopedic experience or practice in Emergency/Urgent Care clinical/hospital setting
- Active/current state medical license and eligible for a VA Medical License
- DEA License
- Physical health to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position
- Ability to assess situations, resolve within scope of ability, or escalate as appropriate
- Ability to respond effectively to emergencies, actual events, or drills
- Ability to follow instructions and make decisions with little supervision
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor in all aspects of role
- Travels between facilities when indicated
- Strong customer service skills and excellent communication skills
- Experience in Sports injuries
- Experience in Sprains & strains
- Experience in Slips, trips, falls
- Experience in Hand & wrist injuries
- Experience in Foot & ankle injuries
- Experience in Knee/shoulder injuries
- Experience in Cuts & lacerations
- Experience in Back & neck injuries
- Experience in Broken bones
- Experience in Sports physicals (NOVA & RIC)
- Experience in Work-related injuries
Responsibilities
- Examine, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages for immediate health care needs, as well as provide employer services.
- Urgent care, emergency room responsibilities.
- Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests.
- Fracture/Dislocation reductions/management, laceration repair, joint injections.
- Instructs patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plan and medications.
- Consults with physicians when warranted to assess patient condition and treatment plan.
- Ensures that medical charts and administrative paperwork are completed in a timely manner.
- Performs within guidelines of specific privileges approved by the governing body and delegated by the Medical Director.
- Provides support to medical and office staff.
