About The Position

Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan (OAM) is seeking a Physician Assistant to work closely with OAM providers and team members to provide comprehensive care and support to patients recovering from injuries, surgeries, or chronic conditions. The Physician Assistant's expertise in orthopedics will play a vital role in helping patients regain mobility, manage pain, and improve their overall quality of life. Requirements

  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Licensed with the State of Michigan
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Patient focused mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of patients and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong professional appearance.
  • Knowledge of EMR systems.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity required to operate modern exercise and office equipment.
  • Normal or correctible range of hearing and eyesight.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, lifting and reaching required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in an Orthopaedic setting.
  • Experience in Urgent Care and/or Sports related injuries.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, MRI scans, or blood work, to aid in the diagnosis of injuries and conditions.
  • Administer injections and perform minor procedures under supervision.
  • Assess patients' rehabilitation needs and establish appropriate treatment plans. Work with other OAM departments, such as Physical Therapy, to coordinate the best care plan possible for each individual patient.
  • Ensure proper follow-up is made with patients and OAM providers to ensure that treatment plans are working to improve patients’ conditions and adjust those plans as necessary.
  • Prescribe medications within the practice agreement set forth by supervising physicians.
  • Provide patient education on rehabilitation exercises, lifestyle modifications, and pain management techniques.
  • Ensure clear understanding of post-operative care and expectations.
  • Address patients' concerns, answer questions, and provide emotional support throughout the rehabilitation process.
  • Tailor education and communication for each individual patient so that diagnoses and expectations are interpreted correctly.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting patient progress, treatment plans, and outcomes.
  • Document and update records using clear, concise verbiage so that all necessary parties reviewing the record will understand the notes.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards, ensuring patient confidentiality and informed consent.
  • Utilize electronic medical record system and healthcare software for documentation purposes.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in rehabilitation therapies, techniques, and research.
  • Participate in professional development activities and attend conferences to enhance knowledge.
  • Apply evidence-based practices to provide high-quality and effective patient care.
  • Maintain necessary licensure/certifications.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and interdisciplinary collaborations.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and effective communication skills within the healthcare team.
  • Provide constructive feedback as it relates to performance, patient flow, and patient care issues.
  • Provide in-services and clinical education for staff members as needed.
