About The Position

The physician's assistant is responsible for providing medical care as delegated by the physician. Provides primary health care and performs selective medical services under the direction of the practice physician(s).

Requirements

  • Graduate of AMA accredited Physician assistant program.
  • Current Ohio state PA license
  • Certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant.
  • Current CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • MS preferred.
  • Preferably in office/clinic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients.
  • Reviews patient records.
  • Assesses patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with care plan and determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Provides acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, doing physicals, monitoring therapies, minor office surgical procedures.
  • Administers injections, immunizations and oral medications.
  • Prescribes medications.
  • Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
  • Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
  • Responds to emergencies including use of CPR/ACLS.
  • Documents patient information and care provided in patient records and maintains department statistics.
  • Uses computer/EMR system to access/enter needed data.
  • Educates patient and families as appropriate regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Provides continuity of care.
  • Consults with other staff as necessary.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
  • Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
  • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
  • Performs work as related.
