About The Position

CLFC is hiring an experienced, Texas-licensed Physician Assistant to provide overnight on-call medical coverage at Rio Grande State Center, an inpatient psychiatric facility serving an underserved South Texas population. This is a night-only, 1099 opportunity intended to provide supplemental income while allowing the clinician to keep a daytime position.

Coverage runs from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM, with flexible nights across primary and relief rotations. The role is primarily on-call availability, and actual encounters vary based on facility needs. Compensation includes $800 guaranteed for each overnight on-call period, plus $175 per post-restraint evaluation and $225 per history and physical (H&P), a $2,500 sign-on bonus, and mileage reimbursed at the IRS rate. CLFC coordinates credentialing, privileging, malpractice, and the Texas-registered supervising physician.

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Texas PA license (PA-C); a copy is required.
• Current NCCPA certification.
• Graduation from an ARC-PA-accredited program.
• Active DEA registration or eligibility; CLFC coordinates the Texas supervising physician.
• Current BLS certification.
• Ability to respond on-site within the facility-required time.
• Malpractice coverage of $1M/$3M before starting; CLFC assists with coordination.
• Clean NPDB history.

Nice To Haves

• Inpatient or psychiatric PA experience.
• Emergency, hospital, correctional, or urgent-care background.
• CAQ-Psychiatry certification.
• ACLS certification.
• CPI/MOAB training.
• Residence within approximately 45 minutes of Harlingen.
• Bilingual English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight on-call coverage for a state inpatient psychiatric facility.
• Conduct post-restraint face-to-face evaluations in accordance with facility protocol.
• Perform admitting history and physical evaluations.
• Identify acute medical causes of behavioral change and coordinate with on-call psychiatry.
