The Well Clinics are Optum-affiliated outpatient care clinics designed to provide primary care and whole-person health care services in a centralized, employer-connected setting. Located at Optum headquarters campus, The Well is an onsite / near-site clinic model delivering integrated, convenient healthcare for the local community. Requirements

  • Master's degree (MSN) and certification by one of the Nurse Practitioner certifying bodies (ANCC or AANP) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or a Master's degree (preferred Masters, Bachelor's accepted) in Physician Assistant studies with required certification by one of the Physician Assistant certifying bodies.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years Clinical experience in an emergency medicine, urgent care, ambulatory care setting, family medicine or internal medicine practice required.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations including the requirements of HIPAA and OSHA and applicable state rules and regulations pertinent to medical practices.
  • Ability to learn computer software programs and enter and maintain accurate data and statistical information in order to consistently prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
  • Must meet state requirements for independent practice.
  • Valid prescriptive authority (per State practice requirements); ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.

Responsibilities

  • Provides and manages direct patient care to include but not limited to physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, treatment and chronic condition management. All medically related functions performed by a physician assistant are to be performed under the supervision of a properly licensed physician.
  • Orders diagnostic tests such as x-ray, electrocardiogram and laboratory tests, interprets test results for deviation from normal and performs therapeutic procedures such as I&D, splinting, suturing, managing infection and wound care.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes and assists in provision of continuity of care.
  • Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions and refers patients to specialists and relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.
  • Communicates with patients regarding testing results, follow-up care and additional information.
  • Obtains and maintains ambulatory care accreditation to include, but not limited to, developing and implementing a quality improvement program, establishing and coordinating exchange of relevant patient information within the guidelines of HIPPA with local healthcare organizations and obtaining and analyzing performance data.
  • Participates in quality improvement programs.
  • Interacts with patients making lifestyle changes to support wellness.
  • Responsible for patient forward services including wellness care, health risk appraisal, preventative care, acute illness/injury care, and chronic illness management.
  • Performs nursing and administrative functions when necessary.
  • Responsible for lab call backs and prescription refills; direct handoff if not able to complete.
  • Responsible for all trainings, including annual compliance trainings, assigned.
