About The Position

Community Health Network and GoHealth Urgent Care have partnered to deliver urgent care across Central Indiana. The Physician Assistant Float provides clinical services to patients of all ages, treating acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains, and minor infections. The PA assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients independently or alongside a physician, and recognizes when care should be escalated to emergency services.

The role includes working scheduled shifts of hours as assigned and performing other duties assigned by leadership. The job description notes that it may not include every duty and responsibility.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of full-time experience as a licensed NP or PA in an Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine setting.
• Experience treating both pediatric and adult patient populations.
• Comfort performing minor procedures, including suturing, casting, and splinting.
• Proficiency in preliminary reads of EKGs and X-rays.
• For Physician Assistants: a master’s degree from an accredited PA program.
• For Physician Assistants: NCCPA certification.
• Proficiency in urgent care procedures, such as suturing and splinting.
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attentive listening and patient engagement.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
• Multilingual communication skills.
• Familiarity with telemedicine platforms.
• Basic understanding of medical billing and coding.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical exams and review patient medical histories.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging.
• Diagnose conditions and prescribe appropriate treatments or medications.
• Perform minor procedures, including suturing, splinting, and casting.
• Document patient encounters and treatment plans in the EMR.
• Educate and counsel patients on care and prevention.
• Administer vaccinations and refer patients to specialists as needed.
• Work scheduled shifts of hours as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
