About The Position
CLFC is hiring an experienced, Texas-licensed Physician Assistant to provide overnight on-call medical coverage at Rio Grande State Center, an inpatient psychiatric facility serving an underserved South Texas population. This night-only opportunity is described as supplemental income for someone who may keep a daytime position. Coverage is primarily on-call availability, and actual encounters vary according to facility needs. The schedule runs overnight from 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM, with flexible nights and primary and relief rotations. Compensation includes $800 guaranteed for each overnight on-call period, whether or not an encounter occurs, plus $175 per post-restraint evaluation and $225 per H&P. The posting also offers a $2,500 sign-on bonus and mileage at the IRS rate. CLFC arranges the Texas-registered supervising physician and handles credentialing, privileging, and malpractice coordination. Requirements
- Hold an active, unrestricted Texas PA license (PA-C); a copy of the license is required.
- Maintain current NCCPA certification and have graduated from an ARC-PA-accredited program.
- Have an active DEA registration or be eligible for one.
- Maintain current BLS certification.
- Be able to respond on-site within the facility-required time.
- Have $1M/$3M malpractice coverage before starting; CLFC assists with coordination.
- Have a clean NPDB history.
Nice To Haves

- Emergency, hospital, correctional, or urgent-care background.
- CAQ-Psychiatry.
- ACLS.
- CPI/MOAB.
- Live within approximately 45 minutes of Harlingen.
- Be bilingual in English and Spanish.
Responsibilities
- Provide overnight on-call coverage for a state inpatient psychiatric facility.
- Conduct post-restraint face-to-face evaluations according to facility protocol.
- Perform admitting history and physical (H&P) evaluations.
- Identify acute medical causes of behavioral change and coordinate with on-call psychiatry.
