About The Position

FlexStaff is seeking Physician Assistants for various urgent care sites in Nassau and Suffolk County. Candidates must have urgent care or emergency medicine experience caring for adults and pediatric patients aged 6 months and older. The role performs functions and technical procedures related to patient admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation, and participates in performance improvement, research, and educational activities. Shifts are 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.–5 p.m. on weekends. Partial shifts are available: 8 a.m.–12 p.m., 9 a.m.–1 p.m., or 4 p.m.–8 p.m.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
Graduate of an accredited Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs (ARC-PA) program required.
Current New York State Department of Education license to practice as a Physician Assistant required.
Current NCCPA certification required.
Current BLS certification required.
Urgent care or emergency medicine experience working with adults and pediatric patients aged 6 months and older required.

Responsibilities

Take initial patient histories and perform physical examinations.
Initiate and document the plan of care, communicate it, and follow up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients.
Perform daily patient rounds.
Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
Interpret laboratory and test results.
Confer with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.
Document discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals in patient charts upon discharge.
Inform patients of necessary post-discharge care instructions.
Perform related duties as required.
Participate in performance improvement, research, and educational activities.
