About The Position

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license to practice in New York State.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Demonstrated clinical experience in ophthalmology, emergency medicine, or urgent care settings.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Ophthalmology diagnostic and clinical skills are essential for accurately assessing and managing eye-related conditions, ensuring timely and effective treatment.
• Emergency medicine and urgent care skills enable the PA to respond swiftly to acute patient needs, stabilizing and managing critical situations.
• Family medicine and pediatrics expertise allow the PA to provide holistic care across all age groups, addressing a broad spectrum of health concerns.
• Surgical skills support the PA in assisting with operative procedures and managing perioperative care, enhancing patient safety and recovery.
• Critical care knowledge is vital for managing complex cases requiring intensive monitoring and intervention.
• Patient education skills ensure that individuals and families understand their health conditions and treatment plans, promoting adherence and positive health outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic examinations and diagnostic testing to assess patient eye health and identify conditions.
• Provide urgent and emergency medical care for patients presenting with acute ophthalmologic and general medical issues.
• Manage preoperative and postoperative patient care in collaboration with surgeons.
• Perform minor ophthalmic procedures and treatments.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with chronic and acute eye conditions.
• Educate patients and caregivers on disease prevention, treatment options, medication management, and follow-up care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and effective patient care across various clinical settings.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
