Experienced Physician Assistant
About The Position
UVA Community Health is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join a high-performing Radiology team serving three community hospitals across Northern Virginia. This is a unique opportunity to practice at the intersection of diagnostic and interventional radiology, with a role designed to balance fluoroscopic procedures and image-guided interventions in a dynamic, patient-centered environment. Requirements
- NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant
- Virginia licensure (or eligibility)
- Fluoroscopy training (VA Board compliant)
- Strong clinical judgement, procedural proficiencies, collaborative and communication skills
- Experience with diagnostic fluoroscopy, arthrograms, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar punctures, or other image-guided procedures
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in radiology, interventional radiology preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform real-time fluoroscopic procedures (e.g., barium swallows, upper GI series, esophagrams, joint injections/arthrograms, lumbar punctures, HSGs).
- Review prior imaging, gather clinical history, and formulate accurate assessment plans.
- Generate clear, accurate preliminary procedural reports for attending radiologist review.
- Possess or able to obtain ARRT fluoroscopy training to operate fluoroscopy
- Perform light IR procedures (e.g., paracentesis, thoracentesis, PICC insertions, port removals, lumbar punctures).
- Conduct daily inpatient rounding for pre- and post-procedural IR patients.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-procedural histories, physical exams, and lab reviews.
- Review prior imaging
- Obtain informed consent, thoroughly explaining risks, benefits, and alternatives to patients.
- Provide post-procedure education and follow-up care instructions to patients and families.
