Under the general (direct or indirect) supervision of a licensed and Board-Certified Physician, evaluates and treats patients with medical and/or surgical oncologic, hematologic and/or surgical problems. Delivers direct patient care; performs routine histories and physical examinations; performs and/or interprets diagnostic tests and/or procedures as detailed in the department specific scope of practice. Participates in teaching and quality assurance activities with other members of the clinical department. The Surgical Oncology Physician Assistant functions in the outpatient/ambulatory, inpatient, perioperative, and intraoperative settings. The Physician Assistant plays a vital role in supporting physicians and surgical oncologists by coordinating and delivering high-quality care to patients with complex surgical malignancies.
