About The Position

MainStreet Family Care is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant (PA) to join their growing team in Elizabeth City, NC. This role focuses on providing patient-centered care to help patients feel better quickly, offering services in urgent care, primary medical care, telemedicine, and occupational medicine. The ideal candidate will be a leader capable of managing a small team in a high-volume, fast-paced urgent care setting. This opportunity is suitable for PAs early in their careers, including new graduates. The company provides extensive support, including HQ orientation, training shifts with experienced providers, a CME allowance, a free UpToDate subscription, and an on-call provider for clinical decision-making support. PAs will utilize their full scope of practice, treating patients of all ages from infants to geriatrics, which helps maintain sharp skills and marketability. The role emphasizes leadership, with PAs acting as the primary medical provider in the clinic, supported by treatment protocols and medical assistants whom they can mentor. The clinics serve rural communities with limited access to care, operating 362 days a year. Many clinics qualify for state-funded tuition reimbursement or student loan reimbursement grants, which MainStreet Family Care assists with. This position is presented as a significant career launchpad, with a commitment expected for two years.

Requirements

  • Physician Assistant Board Certification required.
  • MSN, or higher education required.
  • Experience working in EMR and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.) preferred.
  • DOT certified or willing to become DOT certified (company covers the cost).

Responsibilities

  • Care for every patient who comes through the door within your scope of practice.
  • Diagnose and treat common illnesses such as cold, flu, strep, COVID, and other upper respiratory issues.
  • Perform minor procedures including toenail removal and foreign object removal.
  • Suture wounds.
  • Splint fractures.
  • Conduct general orthopedic evaluations and management.
  • Review x-rays (to be over-read by a Radiologist).
  • Address general dermatology issues.
  • Manage general eye problems.
  • Perform general EKG interpretations.
  • Utilize emergency management skills.
  • Demonstrate general GYN expertise.
  • Treat children of all ages.
  • Provide occupational medicine services.
  • Conduct telemedicine consultations.
