About The Position

Pacific Neuropsychiatric Specialists (PNS), an outpatient private mental health group practice, is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide psychiatric care. The organization includes psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, therapists, and patient care coordinators, and emphasizes comprehensive, collaborative, and compassionate care. The role provides a mix of office-based outpatient and telepsychiatry services. The Physician Assistant diagnoses and assesses patients with psychiatric and mental health conditions, prescribes medications, develops integrated healthcare treatment plans, and manages patient care through evaluation and follow-up. The position also includes medication management and therapy, patient and family education, and support for rehabilitation.

Requirements

Hold a current, valid license to practice in California.
Hold a National Provider Identifier (NPI).
Have full prescription authority.
Maintain current D.E.A. licensure.

Nice To Haves

At least two years of experience in a behavioral health setting or demonstrated equivalent experience; preferred but not required.
Bilingual Spanish; highly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and provide ongoing medication management and therapy for new and existing patients.
Conduct initial in-person and telemedicine psychiatric evaluations, medication management visits, and monitoring visits.
Renew and refill medications to the best of their ability to avoid lapses in treatment.
Educate patients about their disease process and provide guidance on preventive practices for managing acute and chronic conditions.
Educate, assist, and support family members and others involved with patients to increase awareness of mental and emotional illness and their ability to contribute to rehabilitation.
Develop integrated healthcare treatment plans and provide patient-care management, evaluation, and follow-up.
