Position Overview As a Physician Assistant First Assist, you will serve as an integral member of a high-performing surgical team, providing hands-on support in the operating room while managing pre-operative and post-operative patient care. This role offers the perfect balance between surgical excellence and meaningful patient relationships, allowing you to utilize your full scope of practice in both clinical and surgical settings.

Requirements

  • Active and unrestricted New York State Physician Assistant license
  • Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification
  • Valid DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) license
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Exceptional clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proven ability to work effectively in both surgical and clinical environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or training as a surgical first assistant preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform as Surgical First Assistant in the operating room alongside experienced surgeons
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-operative patient evaluations and assessments
  • Provide thorough post-operative follow-up care and monitoring
  • Manage clinic responsibilities including patient consultations and treatment planning
  • Participate in inpatient rounding and hospital-based patient management
  • Facilitate seamless care coordination with referring physicians and primary care providers
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
