About The Position

CLFC is hiring an experienced, Texas-licensed Physician Assistant to provide overnight on-call medical coverage at Rio Grande State Center, an inpatient psychiatric facility serving an underserved South Texas population. Coverage is primarily on-call availability, and the number of encounters varies with facility needs. The schedule is overnight, 5:00 PM to 8:00 AM, with flexible nights and primary and relief rotations. This is a 1099 opportunity intended to provide supplemental income while allowing the clinician to keep a daytime position.

Compensation includes $800 guaranteed for each overnight on-call period, even when no encounter occurs, plus $175 per post-restraint evaluation and $225 per history and physical (H&P). The position also includes a $2,500 sign-on bonus and mileage paid at the IRS rate. CLFC coordinates the Texas-registered supervising physician, credentialing, privileging, and malpractice arrangements. The opportunity includes a multi-year contract and is part of a network of more than 500 providers.

Requirements

• Hold an active, unrestricted Texas PA license (PA-C); a copy of the license is required.
• Maintain current NCCPA certification and have graduated from an ARC-PA-accredited program.
• Have active DEA registration or eligibility.
• Maintain current BLS certification.
• Be able to respond on-site within the facility-required time.
• Have $1 million/$3 million malpractice coverage before starting; CLFC assists with coordination.
• Have a clean NPDB history.

Nice To Haves

• Inpatient or psychiatric PA experience.
• Emergency, hospital, correctional, or urgent-care background.
• CAQ-Psychiatry.
• ACLS.
• CPI/MOAB.
• Live within approximately 45 minutes of Harlingen.
• Bilingual English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight on-call coverage for a state inpatient psychiatric facility.
• Conduct post-restraint face-to-face evaluations according to facility protocol.
• Perform admitting history and physical (H&P) evaluations.
• Identify acute medical causes of behavioral change and coordinate with on-call psychiatry.
