About The Position

We are seeking a Physician Assistant to collaborate with a multidisciplinary health care team that includes urologic and colorectal sub-specialties. This role involves demonstrating a high degree of clinical expertise in providing primary, secondary and/or tertiary healthcare in the inpatient, outpatient or ambulatory settings for complex patients. The Physician Assistant will educate patients and their families to promote wellness, improve and maintain current health, and intervene in acute and chronic urogynecologic diagnoses, acting as a resource to all staff in the care of complex patients. This position will assist the team in providing continuity of care from ambulatory status to inpatient discharge process, aiding nursing, physicians, and surgical residents by providing care, teaching protocols, and improving the quality of services. Responsibilities include performing history and physical exams, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, developing pre and post treatment/operative plans of care, intervening in acute episodes, writing medication and nursing care orders, and communicating with consulting services. The role also involves performing pessary fitting and maintenance, performing procedures such as outpatient gynecologic biopsies with expansion to trigger point injections and nerve blocks, first assisting in the OR, and supporting the educational mission of the division by participating in student clinical rotations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program
  • Active PA license in State of Wisconsin
  • Active PA board certification
  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
  • CPR certification
  • Advanced life support certifications if relevant to practice area (ACLS, PALS, NRP)
