About The Position

Delivers primary health care to patients by assessing physical and psychosocial conditions, such as acute or chronic illness or injuries, and providing medical consultation and treatment under physician supervision. Physician Assistant practice is per California Physician Assistant regulations and the delegation of service agreement between the Physician Assistant and the supervising physician.

Requirements

  • Masters or equivalent education/experience
  • PA-Physician Assistant
  • CSRC-Controlled Substance Registered Certification (DEA) with CAPA CS certificate
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • National Board Certification
  • Medical knowledge and skills applicable to perform within the scope of practice
  • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
  • Critical thinking skills as it relates to specialized departments
  • Communication skills (verbal, written and listening) with ability to work effectively across the organization, especially in situations requiring instructing, persuading, negotiating, consulting and advising.
  • Technical and analytical skills for analysis and interpretation of test procedures and results in order to determine appropriate correction actions
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and collaborate across the organization and with patients and their families as needed
  • Ability to effectively lead, mentor and/or develop others
  • Math aptitude skills: i.e calculation of drug doses
  • Computer skills to include entering accurate information into practice management and electronic health record
  • Ability to lift and position patients properly using best practices
  • Ability to maintain composure during challenging interpersonal interactions
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • Applies mental application and concentration to handle varying procedures and interruptions

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of electronic health records such as EPIC
  • 6 months related clinical experience

  • Calculating drug doses
  • Entering accurate information into practice management and electronic health record
  • Lifting and positioning patients properly using best practices
  • Managing, storing, preparing, receiving, unpacking, transporting, disposing of, or administering drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and in accordance with the USP 800 guidelines.
