Under the supervision of a physician, the Physician Assistant provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services. This role involves obtaining patient history, performing assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic procedures, and providing direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources. The Physician Assistant will also counsel and educate patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options, and community resources. Responsibilities may include performing preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations, and care, as well as coordinating registration functions and assisting in the operating room. The position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work in a stressful environment while taking appropriate action.
