About The Position

The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner serves as a key clinical partner to the physician, supporting the growth, quality, and operational efficiency of the orthopedic practice. This role delivers high-quality, patient-centered care across ambulatory, inpatient, and perioperative settings while ensuring a timely, safe, and exceptional patient experience.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner in a mixed setting of clinic and hospital based experience including OR first assist role.
  • Bachelor's.
  • Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Physician Assistant Training Program.
  • Physician Assistant, Florida.
  • BLS.
  • Current Florida State registration.
  • Infection Control Certificate must be current.
  • Must have taken child abuse recognition course.
  • Must possess strong clinical skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master's, Physician assistant.
  • Current NCCPA Certificate - 100 hours of continuing medical education must be logged every 2 years.
  • Recertification Examination must be taken every 6-10 years and passed successfully.

Responsibilities

  • Independently evaluate and manage new and established patients, including comprehensive history-taking, physical examination, and treatment planning
  • Independently manage post-operative patients and monitor recovery outcomes
  • Deliver timely, evidence-based orthopedic care with a focus on quality, safety, and patient outcomes
  • Function as first assist in surgical procedures
  • Provide perioperative care including pre-operative evaluations and post-operative follow-up
  • Perform office-based orthopedic procedures, including: Joint injections (e.g., corticosteroid injections), Joint aspirations, Iovera and other approved procedures
  • Perform independent wound closure in accordance with clinical standards
  • Participate in inpatient rounding and management of orthopedic patients
  • Initiate and manage inpatient orders
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and support discharge planning
  • Independently manage patient questions and concerns during clinic hours and after-hours
  • Provide clear education regarding diagnoses, procedures, and recovery
  • Ensure a responsive, patient-centered experience
  • Accurately document all patient encounters in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Complete documentation, orders, and communications in a timely manner
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory, payer, and organizational standards
  • Independently initiate and manage: Outpatient orders (therapy, medications, diagnostics, referrals), Inpatient orders
  • Coordinate care across providers and services
  • Fit and manage durable medical equipment (DME) as part of patient care
  • Serve as a clinical resource to clinical support staff
  • Support efficient clinic workflow, patient flow, and care delivery
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and operational leadership
  • Conduct billable telehealth and phone consultations
  • Provide after-hours phone coverage and clinical decision-making
  • Participate in cross-coverage for other Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
  • Assist with clinical support activities to ensure continuity of care
  • Participate in community events and educational initiatives
  • Provide medical expertise in outreach programs
  • Promote orthopedic health awareness and education
