About The Position

We are seeking three full-time Physician Assistants (PAs) to provide coverage in an urgent care setting. The clinics operate 7 days a week from 8 AM to 8 PM, with providers typically working 12-hour shifts, three shifts per week. The patient population ranges from neonates to the elderly, with an average daily patient volume of 25 to 50, increasing during cold and flu season. While the clinic handles episodic events, higher acuity cases are referred to emergency departments. Providers must be proficient in a range of procedures and diagnostic interpretations, and utilize Epic for EMR documentation. Credentialing is estimated to take 60 to 90 days.

Requirements

  • Board certification
  • Active Virginia medical license
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current DEA registration
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an emergency department, primary care, or urgent care setting
  • Clean background with no history of malpractice or license infractions
  • Must hold a valid license to practice in Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laceration repair (simple, intermediate, complex suturing, and stapling).
  • Perform incision and drainage (I&D), including packing.
  • Perform foreign body removal.
  • Manage minor burns.
  • Provide skin lesion care.
  • Perform orthopedic stabilization (splinting and casting).
  • Perform joint reduction.
  • Conduct diagnostic and point-of-care testing.
  • Interpret X-rays.
  • Evaluate Electrocardiograms (EKGs).
  • Interpret point-of-care lab results (including rapid strep, flu, COVID-19, RSV, urinalysis, and blood glucose).
  • Manage epistaxis (anterior nasal packing or silver nitrate cautery).
  • Perform cerumen impaction removal.
  • Provide airway support via nebulizer treatments and initial emergency stabilization.
  • Document patient encounters using Epic EMR.
