About The Position

We are seeking a Physician Assistant specializing in Cardiothoracic Surgery for a Locum Tenens position in Flagstaff, AZ. This role involves clinical duties and on-call coverage in a hospital setting. The PA will manage CVICU and step-down cardiothoracic patients, perform surgeries, and execute specific procedures. The coverage period is from October 24, 2026, to January 23, 2027.

Requirements

• Active Arizona PA license or eligibility
• PA Board Certified or eligible (NCCPA)
• DEA registration required
• BLS, ACLS (AHA) certifications
• Minimum 3 years in cardiothoracic surgery with EVH
• Graduation from an NCCPA-approved PA program or Master’s in Nursing; Acute Care NP program if NP track
• Recent cardiothoracic surgery experience
• Proficient with endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
• Temporary pacemaker removal
• Chest tube removal
• IABP removal
• Aline placement

Responsibilities

• Manage CVICU and step-down cardiothoracic patients (10–15 per day).
• Perform surgeries as needed (1–2 per day).
• Perform temporary pacemaker removal, chest tube removal, IABP removal, and arterial line placement.
• Provide on-call coverage from 3p–7a.
• Utilize endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) as required.
