About The Position

This is a locum tenens position for a Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. The role is primarily inpatient/hospital-based and involves providing post-operative care, conducting emergency surgeries, managing consults, assisting in procedures, and coordinating patient care. There is also a potential to supervise and teach. The position serves adult and geriatric populations with an average patient load of 20-26 per day in a Level 2 Trauma center. The need is ongoing, requiring 1 to 2 weeks of coverage per month until 2027, with initial coverage from September 8, 2026, to September 18, 2026.

Requirements

• Board certification in Vascular Surgery.
• Active Ohio medical license.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Active DEA registration.
• Clean background with no malpractice or license issues.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery services.
• Proficiency in vein harvesting during cardiac surgery.
• Experience with Epic EMR system.

Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative care for cardiothoracic and vascular surgical patients.
• Conduct emergency surgeries in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery areas.
• Manage consults and referrals from the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and other hospital providers.
• Perform vein harvesting during cardiac surgery.
• Assist in surgical procedures.
• Write prescriptions and coordinate patient care.
• Conduct patient rounding and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Order necessary tests, including retrieval of vascular tissues for bypass conduit use.
• Supervise and teach (potential).
