About The Position

The University of North Dakota (UND) Physician Assistant (PA) Program is a nationally recognized, continuously accredited program and the only PA program in North Dakota. Grounded in a mission to improve access to high-quality healthcare, the program prepares practice-ready physician assistants who excel in team-based care, with a strong emphasis on serving rural and underserved populations. Through a commitment to innovation, academic excellence, and community engagement, the program develops clinicians equipped to meet evolving healthcare needs. The 24-month Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program features a rigorous, competency-based curriculum that integrates hybrid didactic instruction with early and sustained clinical experiences. Students engage in a dynamic blend of online and on-campus learning, followed by immersive clinical training across diverse practice settings. With a strong focus on primary care, clinical reasoning, and professional development, graduates emerge as highly skilled, adaptable providers prepared to deliver patient-centered care across a wide range of healthcare environments.

Requirements

  • Graduate-level Physician Assistant from an accredited PA program and current NCCPA certification
  • Demonstrated successful experience as a PA-C, preferably in primary health care
  • Licensure (unrestricted) or licensure-eligible as a PA-C
  • 3 years of clinical practice, preferably in primary care
  • Prior experience working with a Physician Assistant educational program, including involvement in student assessment and grading processes.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
  • Interest in areas that align with our program mission
  • Medical proficiency in clinical skills and abilities to function within one’s primary care provider role
  • General knowledge and proficiency in classroom instruction, including online instruction
  • Knowledge of the primary care role of the PA and the role of various health care providers in the health care system
  • Proficiency in upgrading skills and knowledge required to retain eligibility for professional certification
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Course instruction or co-instruction, including the design, development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of individual courses within the program curriculum as assigned.
  • Contribute to the instruction of clinical skills and simulation activities, lab activities, and assessments.
  • Ensure that academic standards, policies, and procedures are upheld by faculty, staff, and students.
  • Exemplify and model the ethical conduct required of the PA profession and promote professionalism within the department, clinical community, university, and profession.
