The Duke Physician Assistant Surgical Residency Program is a 13-month intensive training program administered by the Department of Surgery at Duke University Medical Center. Physician Assistant Residents are credentialed as full members of the medical team and are involved in all aspects of preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic patient care. The Resident will attend lectures, seminars, and skills laboratories and participate in clinical, hands-on patient care with appropriate oversight by the supervising physician and staff advanced practice providers. Duke offers APPs opportunities to practice within team-based integrative care in a tremendous variety of specialties. APPs are expected to work to the top of their scope to contribute to Duke’s missions, which include clinical practice, education, and research. Practice locations can include Duke Health’s three hospitals or over 140 primary care and specialty care clinics throughout North Carolina.
