About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a Physician Assistant - Radiology to join the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. Jacobi Medical Center is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center and North Central Bronx Hospital (NCB) has 213 licensed beds. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The mission of NYC Health + Hospitals is to provide comprehensive health services of the highest quality to all New Yorkers with compassion, dignity, and respect, regardless of immigration status or ability to pay. This role involves providing patient care in the Department of Radiology, working collaboratively with leadership, obtaining patient histories and physical examinations, ordering tests and medications, and providing pre- and post-procedural instructions. The Physician Assistant will also select radiology protocols, monitor patients during procedures, and perform and assist with interventional radiological procedures, including image-guided PICC and midline placement. There may be on-call duties for interventional radiology consults.

Requirements

  • Current NYS registration as a Physician Assistant.
  • Current certification issued by the NCCPA.
  • Must be ACLS/BLS certified.
  • Two years of full time, satisfactory clinical experience as a Physician Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in the Department of Radiology.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Cardiothoracic Radiology, Director of Interventional Radiology, and Chairperson of Radiology.
  • Obtain patient consults, histories, physical examinations, obtain informed consent from patient or responsible party, and follow-up clinical care.
  • Order and/or administer radiologic contrast (i.e. - for CT, MRI, ultrasound).
  • Order pertinent tests and therapeutic/medications, including writing prescriptions.
  • Provide pre- and post-procedural instructions to patients or their representative.
  • Select pertinent radiology protocols for radiologic studies/procedures.
  • Monitor heart rate and administer rate control medications prior to coronary CT angiograms.
  • Perform and assist Radiologists with interventional radiological procedures.
  • Perform image-guided PICC and midline placement, repositioning, and removal.
  • May serve as first assist in radiological procedures.
  • May have on-call duties for interventional radiology consults.
