About The Position

Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) or a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join their GI hospitalist team. This role involves providing inpatient GI care, working closely with the GI hospitalist. The primary responsibilities include rounding on inpatient GI consults, communicating patient care plans and procedure results to the primary team and other stakeholders, educating patients on their GI diagnoses, assisting the GI Hospitalist with emergent GI procedures and other care as needed, and providing support in the GI Lab or clinic when necessary. Advanced practice clinicians work under the direct supervision of a physician and may be required to provide outreach services. Teaching students, residents, fellows, or clinical staff is an expectation of all clinicians as part of the Medical Education philosophy.

Requirements

Completed an accredited program
Eligible to obtain a license to practice in our multi-state region with no restrictions or limitations
Advanced practice clinicians work under the direct supervision of a physician
Clinician staff may need to provide outreach service as part of their role in the system

Responsibilities

Rounding on inpatient GI consults and discussing with GI hospitalist
Communicating with primary team and others about patient's care plan and results of GI procedure and other studies
Educating patients on their GI diagnosis
Assisting GI Hospitalist with preparing emergent GI procedure and other care as needed
Assisting in GI Lab or clinic when needed
Teaching students, residents, fellows or clinical staff
