Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current PA license in Massachusetts.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient education and team collaboration.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing office duties with surgical assistance.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in orthopedics or surgical assistance is highly desirable.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical exams, and diagnostic testing interpretation.
  • Collaborate with the orthopedic team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Educate patients on their condition, treatment plans, and postoperative care.
  • Assist with in-office procedures, including joint injections, casting, and splinting.
  • Manage follow-up appointments, monitor patient progress, and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Assist in the operating room under the supervision of orthopedic surgeons.
  • Prepare patients for surgery and ensure all surgical equipment is ready and sterile.
  • Perform preoperative and postoperative care, including wound care, dressing changes, and monitoring for complications.
  • Provide first-assist support during various orthopedic surgeries, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • May attend community sporting events, talks or events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Attending Physician or Practice Administrator.
