About The Position
This role is for an Advanced Practice Specialty Nurse – GI, who will work alongside gastroenterologists and a care team to deliver advanced, compassionate care to patients with a variety of gastrointestinal conditions. The role involves assessing, diagnosing, treating, and following patients, and assisting in procedures under physician supervision. The position is located at the University Health Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Requirements
- MSN from an accredited nursing program
- Active RN license in Missouri
- Nurse Practitioner certification (ANCC, AANP, etc.)
- Missouri certification for Advanced Practice (if required)
- Current Collaborative Practice Agreement
- BCLS certification
- Clinical expertise in GI or a strong interest in developing it
- 3–5 years of hands-on nursing experience
- Leadership chops and the ability to thrive in a team
Nice To Haves
- 3–5 years of gastroenterology-specific experience
- Advanced education in GI diseases, treatments, and patient management
- Experience in endoscopy, colonoscopy, or other GI procedures
Responsibilities
- Be a clinical leader in GI care—manage patients with GI dysfunction and disease across inpatient and/or outpatient settings
- Collaborate with physicians and specialists to create and carry out treatment plans
- Perform assessments, order diagnostics, and initiate evidence-based interventions
- Assist with or perform specific diagnostic/interventional GI procedures (with supervision)
- Provide education and support to patients and families
- Help shape and elevate the standard of GI care in our organization
