This is a 1.0 FTE Orthopedic Physician Assistant position for the United and East region, covering St. Paul and Apple Valley clinic locations. The role involves 2-3 clinic days a week and 1-2 OR days a week, with 5x8 hour day shifts. You will be part of the call rotation, covering 3-4 weekends a year, and will float among 3 MD teams. The clinic schedule is 8am-4:30pm, and the surgery schedule typically starts at 7am with a mid-afternoon end time depending on case load.

Requirements

  • Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Licensed Physician Assistant - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
  • BLS Tier 1 - Multisource required within 180 Days
  • Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
  • Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • New Graduates may be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Orthopedics preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical care for patients
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear
