About The Position

HSHS Medical Group is recruiting a BC/BE Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our growing Orthopedic Surgery team in O'Fallon, IL. This APP will work alongside our orthopedic surgeons and will go with them to the OR as their primary first assist. This APP will also work in the outpatient clinic and assist with inpatient rounds at HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital. Any APRNs applying for the position must also have an RNFA certification.

Requirements

• Unrestricted Illinois license prior to start.
• Board Certified as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
• RNFA certification (for APRNs).
• Master’s degree in biomedical science, psychology or related field.
• Licensed Physician Assistant in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Physician Assistant Certification.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in orthopedic surgery or another surgical field is preferred, but experience in other specialties will be considered.
• DEA license is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in biomedical science, psychology or related field PLUS 5 years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of Master's degree.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside orthopedic surgeons and serve as their primary first assist in the OR.
• Work in the outpatient clinic.
• Assist with inpatient rounds at HSHS St. Elizabeth's Hospital.
• Participate in monthly rotation for inpatient rounding and after-hours call coverage (phone call only).
