About The Position

Corewell Health is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Cancer Care team in Comprehensive Breast Care at Lemmen Holton Cancer Pavilion, in downtown Grand Rapids. This dynamic outpatient-only role will encompass consultation and surveillance of patients with a variety of breast diseases, including those with cancer, those at high-risk for developing breast cancer, and those with benign disease. The role involves following patients independently and supporting surgeon staff with post-operative and surveillance visits. Opportunities for growth exist by implementing new patient education programs, working with staff and providers to enhance the patient experience, and participation in research studies. This full-time role does not include OR responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree
  • Nurse Practitioners who obtained their education and certification after 2000 must show evidence of completion of a master’s, post-master’s or doctorate from a Nurse Practitioner program that is accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission
  • 3 years of relevant experience
  • Current, relevant clinical experience
  • Previous experience functioning in a collaborative role
  • Experience as a Nurse Practitioner
  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • LIC-Nurse Practitioner (NP) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required
  • CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required or
  • Required Master's Degree Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program
  • LIC-Physician Assistant - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Physician Asst Certified (PA-C) - NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
  • CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 120 Days required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous APP experience in oncology.
  • New grads with exceptional oncology and surgical rotation experienced may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Consultation and surveillance of patients with a variety of breast diseases including patients with cancer, those at high-risk for developing breast cancer, and those with benign disease.
  • Follow patients independently in addition to supporting surgeon staff with post-operative and surveillance visits.
  • In-office procedures may include aspirations, punch biopsies, excisional biopsies, and I & D's.
  • Opportunities for growth exist by implementing new patient education programs, working with staff and providers to enhance the patient experience, and participation in research studies.
